Essential standards for notation, referencing, and formatting to ensure clarity and consistency across all AIAS publications.
Manuscripts should be prepared using LaTeX whenever possible. Word submissions are accepted but may require longer processing times.
Clarity is our priority. Please adhere to standard American Mathematical Society (AMS) conventions.
Use standard environments (\begin{theorem}, \begin{definition}). They should be numbered consecutively within sections.
Number only those equations that are referenced in the text. Use \eqref{eq:1} to reference them.
| Concept | Preferred Notation | Avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Real Numbers | \( \mathbb{R} \) (\mathbb{R}) |
\( \mathbf{R} \) (Bold R) |
| Vectors | \( \mathbf{v} \) (\mathbf{v}) or \( \vec{v} \) |
Plain \( v \) |
| Function | \( f: X \to Y \) | \( f \in Y^X \) (unless specific context) |
Figures should be high-resolution (300 DPI minimum) if rasterized (PNG/JPG). Vector graphics (PDF/EPS/TikZ) are strongly preferred for mathematical diagrams.
Every figure must have a self-contained caption. Captions should be placed below figures and above tables.
We use the standard AMS-alpha or numeric style. Please include DOIs whenever possible.
If using BibTeX, please use the plain or alpha style.
